NTT Anode Energy Corporation Kirin Holdings Company, Limited The consortium represented by Mitsubishi Corporation Energy Solutions Ltd., (Mitsubishi Corporation Energy Solutions Ltd., Venti Japan Inc.1, C-Tech Corporation, and Mitsubishi Corporation), hereby announces the principal concept on conducting the long-term offshore wind power generation projects, as the appointed consortium members on December 24th, 2021 for the following promotion zones in accordance with Japanese legislation to facilitate the use of its marine spaces for renewable power generation2. ● Off the coast of Noshiro City, Mitane Town and Oga City, Akita Prefecture Promotion Zone for the Development of Marine Renewable Energy Power Generation Facilities ● Off the coat of Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture (Northern and Southern sides) Promotion Zone for the Development of Marine Renewable Energy Power Generation Facilities ● Off the coast of Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture Promotion Zone for the Development of Marine Renewable Energy Power Generation Facilities 1. Venti Japan will only be involved in the off the coast of Yorihonjo City, Akita Prefecture (northern and southern sides) Promotion Zone for the Development of Marine Renewable Energy Power Generation Facilities 2. Act on Promoting the Utilization of Sea Areas for the Development of Marine Renewable Energy Power Generation Facilities The consortium aims to contribute to the realization of the carbon neutrality by 2050 through offshore wind power generation projects, which is expected to play a key role to make renewable energy a main power source. Specifically, one of the main aims is to contribute to achieve the reduced cost level, which leads to the growth in the renewable energy sector in Japan and improvement in the international competitiveness. The other aim is to build the resilient and competitive regional supply chain, which leads to the creation of job opportunities, and revitalization of the domestic and regional economy. While sharing the consortium’s vision of supporting to achieve the carbon neutral society not limited to Japan but globally, the consortium aims to contribute to development and improved competitiveness of the overall domestic industrial infrastructure, through providing the competitive renewable energy. The consortium members had created local coexistence plans encompass a number of proactive measures, including the construction of the sustainable support system for the fishing industry, creation of job opportunities and revival of local industries, and quality-of-life assistance for local residents. Reflecting the local demands recognized through the previous opinion exchanges that have taken place with various related parties. Going forward, the consortium will collaborate with partners including Amazon.com, Inc., NTT Anode Energy Corporation, and Kirin Holdings Company, Limited, for the execution of these coexistence plans. 1. The Consortium’s Pledge: ① Forging of National and Regional Supply Chains The consortium aims to create new industries and job opportunities through the development, construction and operation and management of the offshore wind power generation projects. To achieve this, we pledge to collaborate with local government authorities and chambers of commerce to connect with local contractors and take full advantage of the resources and expertise of other interests within the promotion zones, including the regional enterprises, ports and financial institutions. ② Execution of Co-Existence Strategy Aimed at Regional Revitalization The consortium aims to contribute to the overall regions where the projects are located, through three key initiatives, 1) “Construction of the Sustainable Support System for the Fishing Industry” as the contribution for those in fishing industry, who are closet to the offshore wind power generation projects, 2) “Revitalization of the Regional Industry and Creation of Job Opportunities” as the contribution for industries other than fishing, and 3) “Quality-of-Life Assistance for Local Residents.” as the contributions to the individual parties other than the industries. 2. Detailed Plans ① Forging of National & Regional Supply Chains: ● Over the course of our work to develop, construct and operate and manage these projects, we aim to forge national and regional supply chains that will help improve Japan’s domestic production. ● By holding business matching events and human resource development programs on continuous basis, improve the collaboration with regional enterprises.
